WHY THIS ROUTE?

This summit of the Central Massif of the Picos de Europa is one we have climbed the most times and it is almost compulsory to visit it every year.

It is a tough and demanding route, but at the same time, it gives you a lot of pleasure once you complete it.

We will make the ascent through the summer road, a path that matches in part the road leading to Cabaña Veronica. We will deviate and enter the Canalona, a long quarry that will take us to a hill bearing the same name. From there, we will already see the summit of Peña Vieja, and we will only have to face the climb to its summit.

On clear days, the views from here are among the most recommended ones for mountain lovers.
