WHY THIS ROUTE?

The route starts from Puerto de Lunada (1317 meters), the provincial boundary between Cantabria and Burgos.

The route covers small mountain trails that cross pasture areas in the form of terraces. Along the route, we will pass near different potholes and chasms created by the erosive action of the underground water.

From the top of the Castro Valnera Peak (1718 meters of altitude), we will be able to observe the always elusive Valle del Pas and the way in which human beings have shaped the landscape through their ways of life and the use of the land. On clear days, the views are so wide that it is possible to see the Cantabrian Sea.
