VALLEY OF CABUERNIGA

WHY THIS ROUTE?

This route takes us into the deepest part of the Reserva del Saja, where during the ascent, we will discover the amazing view of Los Molinucos del Diablo, which I am sure will not be unimportant for the traveler.

On the way, we will find numerous beech trees, some of them of improbable forms, together with hazel trees, holly trees, oaks, rowan trees and willows.

The sound of the Saja River will accompany us during most of the route, until we finally arrive to the ports of Sejos.

In an area of the ports, we will find an area where there are remains of ancient megalithic menhirs, which were declared of cultural interest in 2013.

These remains coexist with rich and nutritious summer pastures for cattle, not only of the Valle de Cabuerniga, but also from the Valle de Polaciones, which let us observe the traditional ways of life still in force.

On clear days, we will be able to enjoy unbeatable views of the Peñasagra mountain range, as well as of the Northern face of peaks such as Cordel, Hijan, Cornon, which protect the Alto Campoo ski resort.
